This afternoon, Stations 52, 53, and 55 ambulance were dispatched to the 600 block of E. Union Street for a Building Fire. A child’s birthday party was being held at Good Will, the festivities were put on hold when neighbors of the Good Will Fire Company alerted firefighters and police officers that were present to a house fire next door to the firehouse. West Chester Police ran over and found the housing unit to have heavy smoke showing and confirmed a working fire. Engine 52-2 responded on the initial dispatch with a crew of 4 lead by Captain Haring. Engine 52-2’s crew immediately stretched a hose line to the second floor. The crew found the fire in a utility room, as well as the floors and walls of the second floor. Crews from Engine 52-1 vented during the fire attack with assistance from Ladder 53’s crew. The fire was put under control shortly after. Crews assisted with extensive overhaul of the fire building.
